Out in the West Texas town of El Paso I fell in love with a Mexican girl

I had my first meet with Salma Hayek tonight. As always, names have been changed to protect the guilty! However, my name has not been changed – as far as you know! She originally contacted me on a dating site. After a few messages, she gave me her telephone number. We had a nice conversation on the phone, and we decided to meet at TGI Friday’s resturant, otherwise known as my office.

About an hour before we were scheduled to meet, she texted to say “Hello!”, and I replied, “See you at eight-thirty”. She asked where we were going to meet, and if we could meet a half-hour earlier. I said “Sure, we can meet at eight, TGI Friday’s”. I thought we had already established where we would meet? At least she is communicative.

I texted her to let her know I was on my way. She replied that she was already there, she was early. When I walked into TGI Friday’s, she was already seated at a table in the bar area, and we greeted each other with a hug. I was not sure I was attracted to her at first glance. However, after we talked and bantered for awhile, I discovered she has a very positive attitude, we got along splendidly, Salma was bubbly and a lot of fun. Also, she has beautiful olive skin, and a cute face. I am attracted to her. Men are so easy!

We had dinner and drinks, we chated and bantered non-stop for two hours. She likes to travel for both work and play, she’s been to twenty foreign countries. She’s originally from Mexico City, and has lived in the United States since she was nineteen. She’s a human resources consultant. She likes Science fiction movies and romantic comedies, as do I. She also spins six days a week, and watches what she eats.

Salma was married for twenty years, and has been divorced for two. She insists she’s not on the rebound. However, we’ll see about that. As you will soon find out, she gave me mixed signals on the date. She made reference to a second date with me twice, and touched me at least five times. It was not easy for her to touch me when we were seated, because she was across the table from me. She even made excuses to touch me, such as giving me a high-five at one point.

She paid for half of the date. She very politely asked if I would be offended if she helped with the bill. Based on the way she breached the subject, my intuition tells me that she was paying her fair share just to be nice, not because she was uninterested and did not want to feel obligated to me. We had some candid discussions about who should pay for a date. I basically said that I tell men they should offer, but the best ladies pay their fair share.

I knew she had an early start the next day, so after a couple of hours, I suggested we leave. A gentleman never wears out his welcome and always leaves first. Playing hard to get doubles love level. We had a discussion about how one of my previous dates, Mary Louise-Parker, took a spill in her high heels, so I held her hand on the way to her car. Isn’t that cute? We talked a little more at her truck, as she showed me her bike that was in the back, and changed her shoes. Based on her touching me and suggesting future dates, I thought a kiss was in the bag. Do you smell what I’m cooking? Much to my surprise, when I went for the first big kiss, she gave me her cheek! Well, it’s official, I knew this day would come. Up until now, I had never been turned down for a first kiss by a woman, when I went for it. My streak lasted for almost three decades. Some things just are not meant to last forever, the wittle wuv doctor’s perfect record  has finally come to an sad ending. Boo-hoo, don’t you feel sorry for me?  Like Bone’s says on Star Trek, “He’s dead Jim”!

Usually when a woman likes a man in this day and age, she’ll text him after a date. On my drive home, much to my surprise, she called me! We chated for a short while and I kidded her about not kissing me. It’s all fun and games until someone looses an eye!

She has only had three dates from the online dating site, so it’s quite possible I might be only her forth date in twenty-two years, so she might be a little new to this whole thing, a little rusty. That can be a good thing though. If she has not been out in the dating scene much, she probably has not met too many creeps and has not been emotionally drained from that endless search for a needle-in-the-haystack we call dating. Ladies, you want a keeper not a creeper, a winner not a wiener!

I’ll probably give her a call in a week for a second date, if she does not beat me to the punch and call me first.
