Is Breastfeeding Becoming Too Exposed? How Old Is Too Old?

I‘m totally on-board with breastfeeding, because it is the healthiest and most nutritious milk that babies can drink. Not only that, but it should always be the mom’s choice as to which way she feeds her child (breast or bottle).

However, it behooves me as to why so many of these women are actually publicizing themselves breastfeeding their babies (and sometimes children that are too old to be nursing) with their breasts in full view for anyone and everyone to see! I mean, seriously, they CAN practice some modesty and cover their breasts so the only thing that others can see is the baby’s face while it’s feeding and not the actual breast itself hanging out. Yes, breastfeeding is natural – but that doesn’t mean everyone wants to see it or notice it while they’re out in public.

Breastfeeding moms CAN purchase a Breastfeeding Cover or just lift up their shirt to the point where the baby can still make eye contact with them while it’s nursing and at the same time it covers up the mother’s breasts completely so that they cannot be seen by anyone; such as other children, bad guys, or by other people who just DON’T want to see or notice it.

There is something else which disturbs me to a degree. Like I said
earlier, it’s up to each mom as to how she breastfeeds her baby and also for how long she feeds him or her. Yet, I think some of them go wayyyyyy too far! In many peoples’ opinions, once a child develops teeth, can chew, swallow solid foods, has the ability to talk, and hold a sippy cup, they should no longer be breastfed. Shouldn’t a breastfeeding mother exhibit at least some modesty for herself and her child as a courtesy to other people who are out in public? Or should they be able to allow their breasts to be completely exposed in public with no consideration for others?

Also, how old is too old for a CHILD to be breastfed by his or her mother, especially in public?

Is breastfeeding becoming too exposed? If so, is it to force the public into accepting it as ‘normal’ for women to bare it all, or is it because some women want to get away with exposing themselves in public because they know the law will be on their side? What do you think?
